An Application for Image Cryptosystem with JSMP Map

Abstract
A sharp escalation in the transfer of multimedia data has been witnessed specially during the
COVID pandemic. Therefore, protection of images has become crucial and mandatory during
its transmission over the internet. Real-time applications require a balance between the
complexity and speed of algorithm. This paper proposes an application for image
cryptosystem with JSMP chaotic map. The complexity of algorithm is guaranteed with the
non-linear secret key produced with the new JSMP map, since this map is characterized with
a large chaotic regime. The encryption algorithm employs a novel confusion and diffusion
process to enhance its speed. This is achieved by performing both these processes in a single
iteration, in contrast to the traditional method of executing them as two distinct processes.
Further, an application is designed and developed with the proposed algorithm. The
performance metrics of the system infer that it is robust and is a promising one for a real-time
application.
