Abstract

Feminism refers to any ideology that seeks equal rights for women, usually by raising their
status. Feminism is rooted in ending the historical power of men over women. Feminism is a
set of political, ideological, and social movements that share a common goal of defining,
establishing, and achieving political, economic, personal, and social equality between men and
women. This includes striving for equal educational and professional opportunities for women
and men. This essay attempts to examine Desai's expression of her interest in the modern ideals
of a society freed from male hegemony. This study also aims to examine the role and
contribution of patriarchal and patriarchal values to women's sadness, suffering, loneliness,
misery, or other psychological, social, and economic problems facing women. It is said that.
In this study, we will study feminist consciousness in Anita Desai's novel "CRY THE
PEACOCK" to highlight the whereabouts and plight of women in a world dominated by
patriarchy.
