Tamil Script Detection and Recognition from Images and Translating to English

Abstract

Text is indeed one of the finest artifacts of mankind. Natural scene text detection and recognition has an important role to play in getting textual content from images. In a field of computer vision, text detection and text recognition plays a vital role in achieving the intelligence for machine. The main objective is to integrate text detection, text recognition and text translation as one thing. The text detection by using Efficiency Accuracy Scene Text (EAST) Detector and obtaining region of interest. It is to apply Fully Convolution Network (FCN) to produce text regions. We apply non-maxima suppression to avoid multiple region of interest. Then pre-process the region of interest for increasing the efficiency of recognition. The text recognition by using tesseract OCR. Then translating the recognized text to required language by using word mapping technique.
