Investigation of Islanding Detection in Distributed Network using SPMU

Abstract
Demand on an electrical power system always varies with respect to time remaining
oscillatory. In order to meet the required demand, need to incorporate extra power generation,
due to generation cost may become more. To reduce the generation cost and simpler way of
meeting demand is installing Distributed Generation (DG) at load side. DG improves the
efficiency and increases electricity system reliability, and it also helps in reduction of peak
power requirements. In this paper DG frequency based Synchronous Phasor Measurement
(SPM) technique was proposed. Frequency difference-based index between DG and utility
was developed as MATLAB Simulink model.
