Study of Green Practices of Suppliers and Customers in the Manufacturing Sector and its Effect on Operational Efficiency

Abstract

Concerns have been expressed by countries across the globe about the environmental impact
of products and their manufacturing processes. Indian markets are also seen giving
importance to the green manufacturing process. This research gives a brief review of green
practices by suppliers and customers of the manufacturing industries in the state of Kerala
and their impact on operational efficiencies. The study was conducted with the help of a
structured questionnaire. 330 respondents participated in the empirical survey from the three
major cities of the state of Kerala. The study found that green practices by customers and
suppliers have a high correlation with organizational efficiency. The result of the regression
analysis reveals that both the suppliers’ and customers’ green practices have a significant and
highly positive impact on operational effect on organizational performance.
