Importance of Educating Children Regarding Sexual Abuse

Abstract
This paper offers a discussion on the most heinous crime flourishing in Indian society. Rape
is a heinous crime which is threat to the safety of every society and the increased ratio of
juvenile criminals raise an obligation of educating children regarding sexual abuse. It is
important to ensure that children should be aware of this crime because they are the easy
target of such criminals. The frequent involvement of children in Rape crime raise the need of
education. Though in every country there are separate laws for dealing with such offenders
and in India the act by the name of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,
2015 deals with the rights of such survivors/victims/offenders as well. It is also important to
understand that children living in venerable living condition will get indulge in this act more
easily. There are several examples which confirms that children are becoming offenders and
are playing very brutal part in sexual offences. The famous Delhi Gang Rape in 2012, the six
offenders raped the victim very brutally moreover there was one offender who was few
months less in completing the age of 18 years and he was protected under Juvenile Justice
care Act 2000. This offender injured the victim mercilessly as a result the victim died
painfully because her intestine was pulled out by the Juvenile offender. In another famous
case of Ganesh (6 year old boy) was kidnapped and murdered by the teenager neighbor but
again this criminal was sent into correctional home for three years only. Due to increased
involvement of children in rape crime, most important amendment was made by the name of
Juvenile Justice Care Act 2015. This Act confirms that if the offender is of 16 years or older
commits any heinous crime than he will be tried as an adult but if the offence is petty then the
juveniles will be trialed by juvenile courts only.
