Enhanced Algorithms for Pre-processing of Leukemic Blood Cell Images using Image Processing Techniques

Abstract

Leukaemia is a type of blood cancer in which it will result in the increase in production of the
abnormal white blood cells. When the abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow
increases it will result in the destruction of normal blood cells. Doctors have differentiated
Leukemia into various types based on the severity of the disease. Treatment for leukemia will
be decided based on the severity of the diseasein terms of acute or chronic. Acute leukemia
forms will be spreading rapidly and becomes severe very quickly whereas in the case of
Chronic leukemia, it grows more and takes more time to spread.In this paper some of the Preprocessing
methods of Leukemic blood cell image has been discussed along with the
resultant images. Some of the efficient methods of pre-processing have been applied and
compared to evaluate the performance.
