Abstract

This article discusses the role of the Middle Asian Economic Council (MAEC) in the development of Uzbekistan as a raw material base. However, this success in the field of cotton growing could have led to the establishment of cotton monopoly in the Central Asian republics, especially in the Uzbek SSR, and its harmful consequences could have had a significant negative impact on agriculture. A number of scholars, well aware of the dangers of cotton monopoly, began to come up with their own ideas about it. In 1928-29, dozens of controversial articles were published in the press.
