Fintech Innovations and Its Impact on Traditional Banking Models

Resumen

The financial technology (FinTech) sector, which is a rapidly changing industry, is transforming the way financial services are provided and is putting at risk the traditional financial services institutions and their business model. The advent of new technologies, such as mobile banking, digital wallets, blockchain, artificial intelligence and others, have radically changed the process of designing, creating and using financial products and services. The paper discusses the impact of FinTech innovation on the traditional banking model, with a focus on customer experience, efficiency, inclusion and risk management, competitiveness. In this study, descriptive and analytical research method are used and the literature, industry reports, regulations and recent development of banking industry are explored in detail. The findings reveal the impact of FinTech has had on enhancing digital transformation, such as transaction speed, personalised financial services, cost efficiency and better access. Meanwhile, traditional banks must deal with cyber security risks, regulatory requirements, technological adoption, and emerging players from agile FinTech start-ups. The study shows that FinTech has promoted collaboration strategies, such as partnerships, digital ecosystems, and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) models, rather than replacing traditional banks, and hybrid financial service systems are born as a result. Key components to building a secure and sustainable digital financial ecosystem are regulatory efforts, and innovation. The paper concludes that the future of banking will rely on the capacity of conventional financial institutions to adopt new technology, make money on technology, and establish and grow customer-centric business models while staying compliant with regulations and financially steady. The study makes a positive contribution to the existing knowledge on digital finance by revealing an emerging trend towards a digital finance enterprise–bank partnership model.
