Abstract

Over the last decade, health and wellness tourism has risen to become one of the most
popular types of travel around the world. Industry related debates, on the other hand, have
progressed in their classifications and elucidations to distinguish the important terminology
associated with the wellness tourism sector. Most wellness, wellbeing, and health tourism
items are arguably closely linked and utilized interchangeably due to significant market
competition. Medical tourism, or health and wellness travel, is a current phenomenon with a
wide range of implications in both local and transnational contexts. As a result, the purpose
of this research is to discuss current trends and advancements in wellness tourism in South
Indian states such as Tamil Nadu, Kerala Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. South India is
perceived as one of the true spiritual homes of the modern wellness movement globally with
its ancient practices of Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, Spiritual retreats, rewilding, nature
immersions, therapeutic retreats, digital detox and holistic health are among the experiences
sought by wellness travellers in South India
